Street Macro part 5 - The AK Diffuser

So part 5 already, I think there will be a part 6 and then I will revert to normal blogs. As in the end it’s not about what I do but what I experience and photograph. It doesn’t really matter if it’s on my street or not. The AK diffuser came in the mail. It took a while to properly setup, but I think I got the sweet spot. The main thing is the light it produces is just lovely and more so, due to the enclosed nature of the diffuser more light hits the insets, so I can photograph with a lower flash setting.

I got some time in another area in my neighbourhood, still street based but with different vegetation. So also some different spiders and bugs this time. I really enjoyed that. Also it’s getting more warm now, so more bugs and more diversity overall, which is good!

I immediately saw this spider enjoying its lunch, hehe… a great opportunity to test the diffuser and boy it did a great job! This is something special and can’t wait to try it out more!

Moving on in search of other bug I found yet another spider and that one was something I did not yet see. It was perfectly masked on the branch/plant it was on. The same colours and that made me really like this photo. In the same area I found a fly as well loving those dark red colours of the leaves.

Finishing the session I really wanted to get one of the many small ants that were there photographed. I wanted to give an overview of the small leave that are huge for these small ants. It sort of worked, but also not, so not quite happy yet with this execution below, but plenty room to improve I guess.

Anyway there you have it! All photos shot with the OM-1 and the Olympus M.Zuiko 60mm macro lens and the Raynox 250 filter attached and obviously the AK Diffuser. Click to view larger in a light box and navigate with mouse or arrow keys. Enjoy!
