My first Dronie! The DJI Spark

I have been fascinated with aerial photography, not satellite, but real aerial photography. This was further fuelled by a hot air balloon trip I made years ago. However due to the limitations, obviously, I did not pursue it further.

However the recent years have seen the rise of flying drones, especially by the company DJI pushing the envelope of affordable high quality drones. I have followed the trend and the popularity of drones for the last two years. I wanted to buy one but ultimately this would need to complement my photography in the field, not become a whole new part of photography, at least for me.

So when DJI introduced the Mavic Pro I was very enthusiastic, but the limited availability at the time tempered my enthusiasm. In the end I though, I'll wait and see what direction the drones would take this year.

Come summer, the Spark was introduced. This was interesting, but it had a few limitations. No 4K, well not a real issue for me, but no RAW DNG photos and that was a real downside. However I could not control my curiosity any longer and purchased a Spark. Why? Well you need to begin somewhere and next year there will probably be an updated Mavic Pro 2, so till then I can practise and learn and see if this type of photography is really for me or just a cool WANT.

I will write a review later, for now some first shots and I love them!
