Back to chronologic order to my photography. I was in the dunes at the start of October in full on autumn, however with the weather back then and still is, it was so warm it felt like summer. It was a wonderful day, with temperatures around 18-20gr Celsius. Walking in the sun it was really warm, quite weird actually. My goal was to film the deer in meeting season. In the end I was unlucky, but still got some really cool photos.

I started my walk in the area I know best and where usually the deer (stags) are fighting for females. This time though there was really no activity. However I ran into two young deer. They were searching for food, enjoying the sun as I did, but were also observing me. I got this really nice shot, isolating them both in the grass area a blurring the background.

Moving on I walked alongside the water ways and encountered some birds. A heron with an obvious injury, will post a video later, plus a stonechat. I see these a lot lately together with great tits and blue tits. However there are less finches to be seen, which was totally reversed a few years ago.

I was heading to my favourite fox spot in the hope to finally sees some foxes again since before corona. However nothing to be seen, no foxes, no birds, nothing which again was really weird. So I decided to go a bit of trail and do some filming and with that I encountered a deer heading towards me in the shade with the sunny area behind it. It made for a really cool composition and photo. This was a real treat.

Time to head back and by following the water ways I again saw some water birds I did not yet captured. These were female shovelers which look mighty cool with that beak.

So all in all a great day, enjoying the sun and wildlife in the dunes. All shot with the Sony combo! And don’t hesitate to leave a comment or an e-mail. Click to view larger in a light box and navigate with mouse or arrow keys. Enjoy!
