So summer is always challenging for photography, especially landscape photography, but also wildlife and nature as all seems to slow down or just play hide and seek. Summer it seems to be the transition phase between the busy spring period and the preparing for winter autumn period.

Anyway, as many other photographers I much more prefer spring or autumn as nature, wildlife and the overall landscape is in transition and therefor much more interesting. I ramble on… Now at the end of summer I’m trying out new techniques and finding birds in different locations to prepare myself for autumn and its just a way of keeping sane I guess.

So last week I encountered this blue heron, hunting and hiding between the tall grass in the grasslands. So for me it was a good exercise in how close I could get and creating some new compositions. Some work better than others. My favourite is the one where its mohawk is up!

So there you have it! All shot with the Sony combo! And don’t hesitate to leave a comment or an e-mail. Click to view larger in a light box and navigate with mouse or arrow keys. Enjoy!
