Last weekend the sun finally showed itself after numerous days of grey weather with mist, rain and all sorts of dreary conditions. So this was a welcome change. The temperature was a good 8-10C with the sun steadily on the horizon it actually was a really nice warm day. Weird though because it is winter at the moment, right? Well this type of weather you’d expect in November (end of fall), not in the middle of what is supposed to be winter. Even nature is confused, birds are already nesting, first flowers are popping up, it’s just weird to see.

Oke, global warming aside, it still was a really nice afternoon with some nice views and wildlife. I was hunting for birds, specifically the bearded reedling (baardmannetje in Dutch). My luck ran out, or did it? After waiting looking through the reeds and disappointed I did not find any reedlings I headed back out of the dunes, suddenly I was faced with first a young deer, after that a fox way in the distance having a stare down with some other deers and finally another deer in some nice contrasty light watching me if I was some alien with a big black thingie (camera) not really sure what to think of me. Funny.

All in all a good afternoon, nothing really special, but good enough to get its own blog post. By the way, I finally encountered the European bison (wisent) a few weeks ago, stay tuned for that blog post soon!

See you soon! And don’t hesitate to leave a comment or an e-mail. All photos below, taken with the Fujifilm X-T3 and the Fujinon 100-400mm. Click to view larger in a light box and navigate with mouse or arrow keys. Enjoy!
