After rain comes sunshine, finally doing some bird photography and failing

So as in most of Europe it has been absolutely pouring with rain the last months. It started in October last year and with some breaks in between of a few days it has been constantly raining. Save to say we have enough water to go through another dry summer here. Anyway last weekend was sort of oke and finally took out the OM-System 150-400F4.5 pro again as I have not been using it a lot. I have some bird shelter photos coming as well with this lens, so stay tuned.
I took my bike and headed out to the grasslands in my area. Enjoying the sun on my face and the golden light I was pretty excited to do some photography. Along the way I realised it is still winter and there is not much in bird or bird migration yet. However that was not stopping me.
What was in the end was the looming clouds on the horizon - although the sun was great it was clear that the rain would not surrender that easily and just after I parked my bike and went for a hike through a wet/grassland part it started raining. Again. The cool part was that some hares were running around in the rain. A Coot was foraging in the grass with beads of water on its back. So that made for a nice contextual photo.
In the end walking back to the bike the sun came out and bathed the whole landscape in yellow and the animals enjoyed some welcomed sunshine again as did I. All in all it was fine, but also sort of a failed mission as there was not much going on from a birding standpoint, but he - I went and did it anyway.
