SPRING IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER - EVENINGS IN ZAANS RIETVELD

After my first outing with this good weather I headed out again to the same place, but now with a nice evening sun. The only thing is that it’s still early in the year so the sun is setting quite fast, that is a pity as it was really good light. I headed to the same area Zaans Rietveld by bike and was searching for others birds along the way.

Grabbing the bike and headed out, while cycling towards Zaans Rietveld I saw this nice Grebe (Fuut) stretching it wings, shooting with a high frame count allows you to get the perfect position of the wings. At this same location I saw this little Blue Tit (Pimpelmees) struggling with the wind on a perch - bouncing up and down. Again due to the high frame count (FPS) I was able to get the Tit exactly in this position, quite a funny perspective as you normally don’t see these birds in this way.

After this fun encounter I cycled to Zaans Rietveld. There the light was even better. Unfortunately there were not many “new” species so it was more of the same like my previous visit, however I got a nice photo of a Lapwing (Kievit) with the sun at its lowest point, just before sunset. So this resulted in a nice orange glow.

In the end a really nice two hours spend and seeing the first signs of nature. Trying out new gear but will keep that to myself for now.
