Finally I was overwhelmed with many bearded reedlings where as before this really was my nemesis bird. It always eluded me. Now I had the change to photograph it with plenty of different birds in the area, even a female as well.

This started all with a trip to the Marker wadden. Natuurmonumenten (Dutch Society for Nature Conservation) and Rijkswaterstaat (the executive agency of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management) are restoring one of the largest freshwater lakes in western Europe by constructing islands, marshes and mud flats from the sediments that have accumulated in the lake in recent decades. These 'Marker Wadden' will form a unique ecosystem that will boost biodiversity in the Netherlands. More info here.

A real treat for bird lovers and nature lovers as well. I spotted many other birds species as well there but my main focus was to capture the bearded reedling. That was a succes obviously. Still managed to capture some other really nice birds such as a yellow wagtail and a little ringed plover. also before I got on the boat to the island a pied flycatcher. Even got to capture an Eurasian teal but the photo was not really worhy to display here, completely wrong angle!

So there you have it! All shot with the Sony combo! And don’t hesitate to leave a comment or an e-mail. Click to view larger in a light box and navigate with mouse or arrow keys. Enjoy!
