Visiting waverhoek in an attempt to do video with the Sony a1 and 200-600mm

After a very busy summer and spring I finally have the time to do some more photography. Even dabble into video which for me is a totally different ball game. I’m still learning, but really liking it thus far. However photography can be more in the moment and a bit unplanned, although I strongly advice against it if you want a specific shot. Still photography is more flexible. Video on the other hand is very different.

I headed over to Waterhoek. Its a relative small place within the meadows here, with multiple birds in one location ranging from small to bigger water birds. So I guess a good place to start. However it was all a bit too quiet. Not much to see.

The one thing that stood out was a Sparrow hawk - Sperwer that flew over and landed way in the distance in a group of trees. Still very cool to see, especially that yellow eye. That was immediately visible. The rest was sort of a given, so some water birds, black-tailed godwit - grutto and a blue tit (very common).

If I get some nice video I will link it below. For now there you have it! All shot with the Sony combo! And don’t hesitate to leave a comment or an e-mail. Click to view larger in a light box and navigate with mouse or arrow keys. Enjoy!
